EIGHTEEN Adventure members fished their latest match at Court Farm, where Gary Knight topped out with 121lb 8oz of carp on the pole and pellet, Mick Fordham used the same tactic for his 93lb 2oz of carp, as did Robin Gallagher with 66lb 12oz.

Oxoid AC’s latest fixture put them on Greenridge Farm and it was Del Baulsom who did the business with 50lb 13oz of carp on the pole and maggot, Harry Roach also employed pole and maggot for his 50lb 2oz, Geoff North made up the frame with 42lb 4oz on the feeder and bread. Nine fished and caught.

With the colder weather upon us match weights are beginning to tumble and a more stealthy approach will be required in the coming months to ensure good results. Bait will have to be used more sparingly and the type of baits will have to be modified to suit the conditions, if you are a newcomer to match fishing or even pleasure angling, watch what the successful anglers are using, ask the pertinent questions of them and listen to the gossip in the tackle shops. I do.

Catch me next week.
