RISING Phoenix Cheer have enjoyed an excellent second season and attended four competitions at Newport, Telford, Loughborough and Guildford.

In total they took 64 competitive athletes, ranging from age five to 40 and entered 18 divisions, being placed first three times, second once, third twice, four four times and fifth five times for 14 top five finishes.

They were awarded the sportsmanship award by the British Cheerleading Association at two of the four competitions.

This award is given to the programme demonstrating an excellent sporting attitude throughout the competition and is something that they are very proud of.

The club are passionate about helping the local community and performed at the Spotlight Ray of Hope Performance, Spotlight Fun Day, Kempshott Festival and South Ham Fun Day to help raise funds for them.

They will also be attending the Basingstoke Variety Show in October.

The group has entered into a new partnership with the Hampshire FA, which will see them perform various routines at selected Hampshire cup finals pre-match and during half time, offering a new theme at events hosted by Hampshire FA.

The group will also look to perform football-inspired routines to promote the grassroots game adding a new theme to cup finals and events.

Rising Phoenix will also play a pivotal role in the promotion of Girls Football Week by delivering a ‘soccercise’ session this October.

Hampshire FA business support officer Isabella Sakias said: “We are delighted to be entering into a new partnership with Rising Phoenix which will add value to our core product.”

Rising Phoenix’s programme director Amanda Stait said: “We are very excited about the partnership. We aim to raise awareness of cheerleading, alongside encouraging more females into sport, particularly football or cheerleading.

Due to demand, the club have brought in an additional beginners junior team for children aged up to 14 and have a youth team for those aged up to 11 years.

They have brought in a non-competitive team for those aged nine and under.

They are now recruiting children and adults for the new season and take children from age five with no upper age limit.

Their aim is to make cheerleading accessible for all with free, no obligation taster sessions, plus reasonable prices with sibling discounts.
