THE Women’s Artistic Squad from Basingstoke Gymnastics Club enjoyed great success in the Hampshire Levels competition at Dynamo, in Southampton.

The group are coached by Anton Angelski, who has taken over the Women’s Artistic section since January and the girls have been working hard to achieve the skills for required for the competition.

Gymnasts were entered into four levels, and represented the club against all the clubs in Hampshire.

Amelie-Rose Smith was the overall level five junior winner as well as winning the floor and being third in beam and bars.

Ellie Graham came second to her club mate and also picked up silver medals in bars and beam.

Zoe Perryment completed a clean sweep on the podium as she came third overall and also won vault bronze.

At the same level, Alesha Pusey won the vault and came second in the floor.

In the level four junior category, Jessica Siertsema came second overall and was second in the bars.

Maya Raja was third overall and also won the beam.

Basingstoke gymnasts had more success in the level three junior competition as Olivia Phillips was second overall and she also won the vault and beam.

Emma Robinson was second in the beam and third in the vault and bars.

Mia Perryment was the overall winner at level two junior and also won the bars, beam and floor. she also came second in the vault.

HARRISON Walker represented Basingstoke at the NDP Tumbling Finals in Telford.

Walker competed in the 13/14 age category at level five. Harrison had to compete three runs for an accumulated score. Each run consisting of various flicks and whip saltos, in which he must demonstrate rhythm, timing, execution and precision.

He scored, 24.2 in his first run, 25.4 his second run, and 27.5 for his final run. This gave him a total score of 77.1 in the national final and earned him a well deserved third place overall.

BASINGSTOKE Gymnastics Club took nine teams to the Micro TeamGym event at Bracknell.

Of the nine teams competing from Basingstoke for four of them it was their first competition.

Each team competed on tumble and trampet in teams of two to five gymnasts.

In the mini section, Basingstoke finished third in the level six female category, and gold for the male category. For their first competitions this was an excellent result.

In the level five section, the Basingstoke team finished second, performing a series of linked skills on trampet and demonstrating their power on the tumble.

In the youth section, the club had two teams competing at level three. They performed solid and consistent runs on both tumble and trampet, and both teams came away as joint third place.

In the junior section where they had two teams who are preparing for the British Championships in Liverpool this weekend.

They completed the higher levelled skills with precision coming second and fourth, bringing home the final medals for the day.
