ODIHAM hockey star Alex Dawson made a triumphant return from injury for Great Britain as they beat current World and Olympic champions the Netherland 2-1 in Amsterdam last week.

This was first of a two match test series against the Dutch as the team start to focus on their build-up to the Champions Trophy this month in London and then the Olympics later in the summer.

The second game is at the same venue this evening in Holland.

In the first game, Lily Owsley gave GB the lead in the 14th minute before the home side levelled things thanks to Kitty van Male.

It was left to Helen Richardson-Walsh to score the winner, after 39 minutes as she netted the rebound from Giselle Ansley’s penalty corner.

The following evening, Danson's 90th international goal handed GB a 1-1 draw in the second and final test match of the series with the Netherlands.

The Reading player struck with just three minutes left on the clock to cancel out Eva de Goede’s early penalty stroke.

After their win in the first match and the draw tonight, Danny Kerry’s side won the series 1-0, striking a psychological blow to one of their rivals before the Hockey Champions Trophy in London from June 18-26.
