NICOLE Rogers’ reputation as a formidable singles player has been enhanced further after the Loddon Vale bowler retained the Hampshire Ladies Singles title.

The 17-year-old, who last year became the first junior to win the title, played 2013 and 2014 champion Liz Russell from Southampton club Atherley in the semi-final.

Surprisingly, this turn out to be a fairly one sided event with Rogers running out a comfortable winner.

This set-up a final against England International Margaret Holden of Chawton in the final at Riverside in Winchester.

This was a very nip and tuck affair with no more than a shot or two separating the pair until Rogers picked up a four on what turned out to be the last end to cross the winning line.

The teenager continued her success in the Open Singles Circuit.

This is a semi-professional circuit where over 700 single players from around the county have taken part in over 30 events.

After reaching the semi-final at Loddon Vale, she then followed that with quarter-final appearances in the next two events.

This has gained her enough ranking points to qualify for the grand final in October at Northampton and District Indoor Bowling Club, where not only will she be the youngest competitor and also the only lady to qualify in the 48 strong field.
