VETERAN cricketer Leon Nurse will finally bring the curtain down on his charity racing career at one of the most famous racing course in the British Isles, when he rides at Punchestown.

The 64-year-old will once again swaps whites for silks and take part in the annual charity race at the famous Irish course which this year will take place April 30, as as part of the Punchestown Festival, where is known as the Irish Cheltenham.

It is aid of the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund and will see around 25 runners taking part and Nurse recently travelled to Ireland to get his racing license to compete in the event.

Nurse who won on his last charity outing at Newbury is really looking forward to racing at Punchestown and said: "This is my Grand National and I cannot wait. I have never raced with 24 other horses so it is going to be an amazing experience and in front of 28,000 spectators who will be there on the day. I would love to carry on my winning run."

Each jockey needs to raise £1,250 to take part and Nurse would like to thank the Irish Centre and Academy Snooker Centre for donations, but he still looking for more sponsorship and anyone who would like to help can contact him on 07889364199.
