BASINGSTOKE Hockey Club ladies fifth team won 4-0 at home against Portsmouth & Southsea.

Hayley Rouse gave the home side a first half lead, before three more goals were added after the break.

Alice Hooper converted from a short corner, Luci Macllum netted by the post and Janice Spalding scored in the closing minutes.

The seconds won away at the New Forest 3-2, in a game which opened with a controversial penalty flick, which was superbly saved by Nicola Ball.

However, the home side led at the break 1-0, but the visitors hit back as captain Bev Mackay dispatched a shot straight through the goalkeepers feet from a short corner.

Rebecca Donaldson found the back board from the left post, following a brilliant run by Sarah Shearing down the right.

Basingstoke's third goal came after Leah Redding drove the ball down the wing passing four opposition players on her way.

She slipped the ball back to Shearing, who fired it into the D for Mackay to smash it into the bottom left hand corner on the reverse, before the home side scored their second.

The thirds won 5-0 at home against Southampton and never looked back after Catherine Woodcliffe scored an early goal.

Basingstoke added a second from a short corner, which Kirsty Brown smashed home.

Another short corner saw Brown send a reverse shot into the net, for Basingstoke’s third goal.

A ball from Woodcliffe to Tania Bridge saw her race past Southampton defenders and score.

In the second half Basingstoke were awarded a penalty flick, which Frankie Tierney calmly pushed into the right hand corner.

The fourth team drew 1-1 away IBM Nomads. Excellent skills from Hannah Wheeler gave Gemma Applegarth the chance to give the visitors the lead at half-time, before Nomads levelled after the break.

In the men’s section, the first team beat visiting Barnes 3-2.

Barnes opened the scoring, before Dave Stones equalised as he rounded the goalkeeper and slotted it home.

A short corner resulted in a second Basingstoke goal. This was after Dean Record flick towards goal was injected by Dan Bowden.

The second half started quickly for the hosts. Graham Lang fed the ball to Record,who in turn found Grant Rouse to score, before Barnes pulled a goal back from a tight angle.

The seconds drew 1-1 against Poole and the fourths won 3-1 against Andover.
