BASINGSTOKE Hockey men's first team hammered visiting Hamble 11-0 Basingstoke led 3-0 after 10 minutes as Grant Rouse netted twice and then assisted Ben Jubin for the third.

Mark Smith scored the fourth goal, before Rouse completed his hat-trick after good work by Dean Record for a 5-0 lead at half-time.

After the break, Rouse turned provider for Jed Mills to score and record took the home side's tally to seven.

The goals kept coming as Record, Mills, Dave Stones and Record with his hat-trick goal completed the scoring.

The seconds won their top of the table clash away at Petersfield 4-3.

The home side opened the scoring, but the visitors drew level as Will Malone attacked down the right and found Ben Shaughnessy to score.

In the second half, Petersfield scored their second; a cross deflecting off the near post and finding their striker.

Petersfield made it 3-1, before Basingstoke scored their second from Paul Handley at the top of the D.

The visitors equalised as a short corner from Jacques Lourens was saved, but Will Jewkes sent the rebound into the roof of the net.

the Basingstoke winner came from Greg Smith after great work from Handley.

The fourths won 4-3 away to Winchester as they came back from 2-0 down.

Digging deep to regain a foothold, Basingstoke counter attacked with Alex Stewart and Eliot Boyd provided the opportunity for Alex Simons to sweep home the ball in at the back post.

Basingstoke’s hopes of coming out strong in the second half were scuppered, when Winchester scored a third goal via a penalty corner.

Simons scored his second of the match from the back post and was quickly followed with a stunning chip over the goalkeeper by JP Vout to level the score at 3-3.

Winchester tried to respond, but inspired defending from man of the match Jamie Cooper and Liam Harrison held them at bay.

The stalemate was broken when Simons completed his hat-trick for a 4-3 win In the ladies section, the first team lost 3-1 away to Andover.

A series of mistakes allowed Andover to take an early lead with a reverse shot from the top of the D.

Basingstoke equalised when Catriona Bausor drove down the left, squaring the ball for Claire Bowman to score.

In the second half, Andover applied more pressure and Basingstoke conceded another goal within minutes. Goalkeeper Gemma Carswell then produced some outstanding saves and Roxy O'Dea almost equalised with a powerful short corner strike, but the Andover goalkeeper produced a fine save.

Andover added a third after this as Basingstoke turned in an out of character performance.

The second team suffered a 1-0 loss against Winchester, but the thirds won 2-1 against visiting Petersfield.

Basingstoke converted an early short corner, when Ellie Pearson crossed it to Kirsty Brown to smash the ball home. Frankie Tierney then saved the ball on the line as it remained 1-0 at the break.

Petersfield cored from a short corner, but Pearson scored to make sure of the win.

The fourths won 4-1 over Havant, but the fifths lost 2-0 against Petersfield.
