A PACKED Basingstoke Arena were wowed by the Professionals on Ice Show which came to town last Friday as part of its nationwide tour.

A whole host of the stars of Dancing on Ice took including Matt Evers, Vicky Ogden, Maria Filippov, Brianne Delcourt, Alexandra Schauman and Lukasz Rozycki skated to the delight of their fans.

The show also showcased the skills of the skaters of all ages from Basingstoke.

Also given a solo number in the show was Milly Alexander-Stiff, the winner of Planet Ice’s flagship programme Skating Star.

The nine-year-old from Oakridge was one of five finalists and part of her prize was to skate in the Professionals On Ice and she received a great ovation after her spot in the show.

The youngster had only started skating some 20 weeks ago so it was a great achievement for her.

It was a great evening for the Basingstoke they rubbed shoulders with the skating stars.

Afterwards the young skater said: “I loved every minute and I will continue skating to improve my skills.”

Evers, is always keen to use local skaters in the Professionals on Ice Justin Rose in action Show which he directs and it is his way of promoting the sport of figure skating.

The director of the show said: “Part of the reason why we created The Professionals on Ice was to keep inspiring the youth to get involved in ice skating.

“It has been an honour and a privilege to incorporate the skating stars into this year production.”

The show was co-produced by Ogden and added: “Being one of the producers on Professionals on Ice we all felt it is vitally important to have our local talent involved in the show, they are truly incredible, skaters of all ages and standards being able to perform alongside with the professionals.

“This year Planet Ice have run a competition to find a skating star the winner had the opportunity to perform a solo within the show.

“I was blown away by the courage and ability of our skating star winner she was outstanding for only 20 weeks of learning ice skating.”

The Basingstoke skaters will next be in action is their own Christmas Show - A Frozen Christmas at Planet Ice on the weekend of December 19 and 20.
