FI PARKER scored twice, but it was all in vain as Basingstoke Hockey Club’s ladies lost 4-2 at Lewes.
In an even first half, Parker converted from the top of D after being played in by Roxy O’Dea, before Lewes equalised.
In the second half, a strike from Catriona Bausor was deflected in by Parker, but Lewes then scored three unanswered goals to complete the win.
The second team won 2-1 against visiting Gosport.
Basingstoke scored late in the first half, when Gillian Dunning profited in the aftermath of a short corner. The home side doubled their advantage as Dunning netted a rebound and held on after Gosport pulled one back.
The ladies fourth team went 2-0 down away to Fareham. Sharon Holden beat the goalkeeper one-on-one to reduce the deficit, but they were unable to complete the comeback.
The ladies fifth team drew 2-2 away at Alton.
Caitlin Cook opened the scoring from a short corner, but Alton levelled after the break. Basingstoke replied when Patricia Flynn got their second, but the hosts were able to find a second equaliser.
In the men’s section, the second team won 7-0 at home to Trojans. Ben Shaughnessy scored a hat-trick, Paul Handley bagged a brace and Jeremy Smith and Rob Sheldrake also found the net.
