CAMROSE AC fished at Whitehouse Lake last Sunday and on a much-improved venue, Tony Holdsworth topped out with 35lb 8oz of carp on pole and worm.

Darren (Dodgy) Brown put 18lb 5oz of carp and bream in the net using pole and pellet. Brian Orchard’s 17lb 15oz was an all-carp catch on pole and pellet, while Colin Thomas caught 17lb 3oz on pole and meat.

Fifteen fished and caught.

Adventure AS went to the River Kennet in Newbury last Sunday, where Sean Barrington used hemp and caster under a stick float to winkle out 8lb 30oz of bits and win the match.

Paul Wilding employed a similar tactic to catch 3lb 2oz of bits, as did Sean Shiles for his 2lb 14oz.

Twelve fished a low river but no-one weighed less than a pound.

Stacey’s match group took themselves to New Barlows Lake for their latest match, where Paul Cripps scored with 21lb 2oz of bream and carp on pole and worm.

Andy Wicks utilised pole and maggot for his 18lb 6oz of bream and carp, and 15lb 2oz of bream and carp gave Sam Skilton third spot.

Ten fished and all weighed.

Kennet Ospreys’ match at Chaley Park small lake saw latecomer Tomasz Wojcik top out on 31lb 2oz made up of five carp on pole and pellet.

Camouflage Jim took second spot on 9lb 4oz, three carp on the bomb. Graham Shadwell’s 3lb was next.

Nine fished on a difficult venue and two did not weigh.

Oxoid AC fished at Willow Pool in Bramley, where Mick Cooper won with an all-carp bag of 60lb 6oz, caught on pole and paste.

Peter Lovegrove’s 42lb 12oz of carp on pole and chopped worm was next, followed by Harry Roach with 26lb 4oz.

Seven fished and caught.

The Basingstoke Championship takes place this coming Sunday, and with a turnout of around 60 expected, a keen competition will be had on the Gold Valley Complex.

Ian Jones will be officiating on the day, and with most Basingstoke clubs taking part, any sort of result will be an achievement.

Local angling character Colin Ariss became a granddad for the first time last Monday.

The baby boy weighed in at 8lb 4oz and has been registered with several angling clubs already.
