BASINGSTOKE Gymnastic Club teams enjoyed success at the annual Micro Teams Summer Competition.

In the first category at Level Four, their team of young gymnasts competed in the mini section against six other clubs from across the country in a TeamGym competition, which involved gymnasts performing skills on trampette, vault and floor.

Both of the Basingstoke teams were using some new skills that they had worked on ahead of the event and for some of them it was their first competition.

The teams performed really well and demonstrated their potential for the future, but they just missed out on the medals.

The girls had been working really hard to complete these skills, and more competition practice will ensure they make the podium next time.

The youth team had already qualified for the British Championships and were using this competition as a warm-up for the event.

They demonstrated power, strength, agility and precision in performing twisting and double somersaults.

The B team landed all their runs to finish third and the A team performed complex skills with a higher risk to win the event.
