HATCH Warren weightlifter Seema Robbins won a silver medal at the European Masters Olympic Weightlifting Championship.

The 35-year-old qualified for the event, held at Bangor University, after she lifted the required weight in her previous competition, picking up a silver medal at the British Masters in March.

Robbins won her European medal in the women’s 35 to 38 age category, in the under 53kg weight class.

She lifted 41kg in the snatch and 45kg in clean and jerk, giving her a competition personal best total of 86kg.

The Hatch Warren lifter missed her last clean and jerk, which would have qualified her for the World Masters Championship in Finland, held later this year.

Talking after winning her silver medal, Robbins said: “Looking at previous years’ results, the standard of the other lifters was high.

“For me it is more about the experience and a personal achievement, than going for a medal.”
