JAMIE Fry was delighted to finish in the top 30 of the Crossfit Games Regional finals in Copenhagen, picking up two top-10 finishes in the gruelling seven-event competition.

The 20-year-old from Chineham opened with a 23rd place in the first event, before finishing 10th in the rope climb.

On day two, he came 30th in event three, which included a one mile run as well as 50 overhead squats.

Fry then produced his best finish in his favourite event, the 250ft handstand walk, coming seventh in a time of 1min 59seconds.

The final event of day two saw him come 35th and then on the final day he was 20th in the sixth event and 38th in the final event as he finished 27th out of 40 competitors.

Fry said: “It was an amazing experience. I had some top finishes and my overall position was where I planned.

“For my last lift of 120kg, the whole arena got behind me and the atmosphere was electric, so I celebrated with a cheeky back flip.”

He added: “I would love to thank CrossFit Blockhouse and the owners Spencer and Toni Whiteley for sponsoring me. Also, ICON Nutrition for their supplement support and NOBULL for the shoes I wear in competition. “

Fry is in action at the British Championships this weekend.

He said: “Anything can happen on the day, given that the 100 fittest men in Britain are there, but I’ve been tipped for a podium place.”
