ODIHAM’S Alex Danson and the Great Britain Ladies hockey team have booked their place at next year’s Olympics after they reached the final of the World League.
The top three teams in the competition at Valencia were assured of a place at Rio and a 1-0 victory over Germany in the semi-final of the competition, made sure of this on Saturday night.
GB can now hope to improve on the bronze medal the team, which included Danson won at London in 2012.
The semi-final against the Germans was won thanks to a first quarter striker from Lily Owsley.
So this means GB face China in the final in a game which starts at 6pm BST today.
To reach the final four the British girls beat South Africa 2-0 as Danson netted the opener and Kate Richardson-Walsh scored the second before the end of the first quarter.
