BASINGSTOKE table tennis players once again enjoyed their exchange encounter with Alencon club L’Etoile Alenconaisse.
The annual Anglo-French clash is now in its 46th year and this time it took place across the channel in France.
The results proved to be a mixed bag for the visitors.
The Basingstoke A team of Sean Pickin, Alan Palaczky, Patrick Garlick and Keith Russell put up a good fight against a strong quartet from Alencon but lost 12-6.
The Basingstoke B team of George White, Steve Armstrong, Sue Tompsett and Celia Hooker also lost 12-6.
The visiting C team chalked up Basingstoke’s only victory with a 14-4 success as Sarah Whithorn was unbeaten and Mark Every, Bill Bavister and Phil Russell all chipped in with wins.
