FORT Hill pupils Bruin White and Adam Potts have played a starring role so far for the Solent Thrashers American Football Youth team.

Quarterback White has thrown 11 touchdowns and running back Potts has scored 17 touchdowns from passes and rushing.

The two 15-year-olds from Winklebury have helped their side to four victories in six starts.

This has seen them beat the Berkshire Renegades (19-6), Gloucester Centurions (24-6), Sussex Thunder (42-8) and Farnham Knights (30-0).

The only team to have beaten them is the Buckinghamshire Wolves twice.

The Thrashers are based in Southampton, and the team trains twice a week with the rest of the team, who are the top American Football organisation in Hampshire.

The Thrashers offer five different codes of the game, flag, women’s, youth (aged 14 to 17), junior (aged 16 to 19) and senior. The youth and junior teams are coached by Winklebury's Marc White and the next youth games are in Southampton on May 30, when the Cobham Cougars, the Farnham Knights and the Berkshire Renegades in a round robin competition and the first game starts at 1pm.

Winklebury duo Bruin White and Adam Potts will also being playing for the junior side and their season starts at Canterbury on May 10 against East Kent Mavericks.

Their first home game is seven days later against Hertfordshire.

The Thrashers have a strong Basingstoke connection as a number of players from the town have played for the club during its 10 year history, while academy graduates Will Crowfoot and Jack Verling recently represented Great Britain.
