WINKLEBURY snooker wizard Mickey Joyce has his sights set on breaking an Eastleigh and District Under-19 League record that has stood for more than a decade.

The 11-year-old has claimed his third Premier title, extending his lead over Connor Benzey to 16 points with just three weeks left.

Gareth Crook and Alex Dunkley were each crowned champion five times in the Saturday morning competition at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club.

Joyce now has them in his sights and said: “I want to try to win it six times.”

However, regional and national events over the coming years may make the youngster re-evaluate his priorities.

Joyce has a high break of 73 in the competition. He competes on the English Association of Snooker and Billiards Regional Junior Tour South, which is for under-20s, and reached the last 16 of this season’s English Under-14 Championship.

The 11-year-old is joint 10th on the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour.

He has also had great success over adult players in the Basingstoke and District Snooker League, where he is second in the Division One player rankings.
