A BUMPER crowd enjoyed another great day’s racing at Hackwood Park on Easter Monday.

It turned out to be a day dominated by women jockeys as only one of the six races was won by a male passenger.

That was 17-year-old Stan Sheppard, who took the Fontwell Park Countryside Alliance Novice Riders on Maxi Chop by eight lengths from Court Again.

Page Fuller, who scored a double at Hackwood Park three weeks ago, did exactly the same again on Easter Monday.

The 19-year-old rode Porlock Bay to victory in the JM Finn Open Maiden, and Terra Bleu in the Harwoods of Basingstoke Conditions race.

The opening race, the Caviste Hunts Club Mem-bers race, was won by Fitandproperjob, in the hands of Ally Stirling.

This gave Stirling her second winner of the Easter weekend, having opened her seasonal account on the Saturday.

Amanda Bush took the three-and-a-half mile J Passey and Son Ladies Open by a diminishing length on her stepfather's horse John Daniell.

The Berry Bros and Rudd Open Maiden went to the Claire Hart as she rode Morebutwhen to a one-length victory over Kinlockspelve.

Vine and Craven race chairman Graham Stewart said: “This has been our most successful day for years. We had perfect weather, good ground and excellent racing in front of a crowd of around 4,500.

“It is a pity we can’t repeat it all in a couple of weeks’ time, as the course could easily cope with another meeting.”
