BASINGSTOKE Bluefins enjoyed a great weekend at the Hampshire County ASA Championships, building on the success of the previous weekends for younger age groups.

The last weekend of competition was for 15-year-olds and competitors aged 16 and over.

Finlay Evans had a great time in the pool as he picked up six titles, doubling up in the junior and 15-year-old category in 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle.

The teenager added to his medal haul with silver in the 15-year-old 200m individual medley and bronze medals in the 15-year-old 400m individual medley and 50m freestyle.

He also enjoyed junior success in the 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley.

Adam Milne turned in a five-star performance in the 16 and over category as he won the 50m and 100m backstroke, 100m and 200m butterfly and 200m freestyle.

Molly Goffin enjoyed a winning double in the 15-year-old and junior 400m individual medley.

She also picked up silver medals in both age categories in the 200m backstroke and 100m breaststroke, with a fifth coming in the 15-year-old 200m breaststroke.

The teenager added another two bronze medals for the junior 200m breaststroke and 15-year-old 200m individual medley.

Oliver Waldram collected a hat-trick of bronze medals in the open 100m breaststroke and the 16-and-over 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Lucy Milne picked up bronze medals in the junior and 15-year-old 50m butterfly, while Daisy Moore won a bronze in the open 400m individual medley.

Bluefins head coach Graeme Thomas said: “The coaches have been very pleased with how the team performed.

“The revised qualifying times and conditions for the championships have certainly been tougher than in previous years, and our swimmers have responded to the challenge really well.

“They are now looking to consolidate and build on their performances over the next few weeks, with a view to preparing for the Regional Championships in May.”
