BASINGSTOKE table tennis ace Amy Blagbrough competed against the best young players in England at the Cadet Masters.
The 14-year-old Aldworth School student was seeded eighth for the event, which brings together the top 12 players in the Table Tennis England Cadet rankings to play against each other on a round-robin basis over the best of five sets.
She struggled to find her best form on the first day, but featured strongly on day two of the event to finish in sixth place with six victories out of 11, the highlight being a 3-1 win over third seed Sophie Barlow.
But Blagbrough was not happy with her overall performance.
“I don’t think I played as well as I could have,” she said. “I wanted to get into the top four, but that didn’t happen. I’ll just have to work on it.”
