THE winners of the Basingstoke and Deane Sports Awards will be revealed during a glittering ceremony at Basingstoke’s Apollo Hotel tomorrow night.

A total of 19 awards will be handed out during the evening, including the Gazette Sports Personality of the Year award.

Twelve local sports stars are in the running for this prestigious prize.

They are: Lindsey Andrews (martial arts), Emma Croker (rugby), Alex Danson (hockey), Connor Gorsuch (shooting), Aaron Harris (triathlon), Danielle Harrison (ice skating), Jean Maton (power lifting), David Ray (football), Kurt Reynolds (ice hockey), Owen Richardson (athletics), Justin Rose (golf) and Dean Skinns (ice hockey).

There will be awards in a whole range of other categories on the night – including Club of the Year, Coach of the Year, Service to Sport, Disability, Veteran, Senior and Junior Team, Primary and Secondary Schools, Senior and Junior Volunteer and Junior Volunteer and Senior Official.

The event is co-ordinated by the Voluntary Local Sports Council in partnership with the Health and Wellbeing team at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

The finalists for each of the categories are:

Senior and veteran sportswomen (10 finalists): Lindsey Andrews (karate), Tanisha Clayton (canoeing/kayaking), Jean Maton (powerlifting), Michelle Matson (swimming/modern triathlon), Katie Metalli (rowing), Hannah Parker (swimming/modern pentathlon), Fleur Parker (swimming), Courtney Smith (taekwondo), Yasmin Taite (gymnastics), Moria West (athletics).

Senior and veteran men (10 finalists): Jim Feighery-Murphy, Kevin McAuslan-Crine, Mark Nevola (karate), Stuart Mogg (ice hockey), Edgar Hornby (fencing), Myles Richardson (athletics), Ben Ross (weightlifting), Sam Sleap (decathlon), Peter Syckelmoore (gymnastics), Spencer Turner (swimming).

Junior sportsmen (12 finalists): Harry Cronk (karate/judo), Kienan Dolan, Sibi Kumara, Zane Sewell (karate), Charlie Hebburn-Heath (rugby), Liam Hignett (tennis), Owen Richardson (athletics), Alex Stock (taekwondo), Bradley Sutton (modern pentathlon), Edward van Meerkerk, Harry van Meerkerk (martial arts), Cameron Ward (squash).

Professional coach (six finalists): Bryan Andrews, Kevin Hall (martial arts), Paul Hamilton (judo), Alison Lee (cheerleading), Kevin McAuslan-Crine (karate), Claire Wright (gymnastics).

Primary school (two finalists): St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, St Martin’s Church of England Primary School.

Secondary school (two finalists): Bishop Challoner School, The Vyne Community School.

Junior team (10 finalists): Basingstoke and Mid Hants AC Wessex League team, Basingstoke and NH CC girls team, Basingstoke & NH CC under-15 boys, Basingstoke RFC girls teams, Basingstoke RFC under-14 boys, Bishop Challoner under-13 girls table tennis, Bishop Challoner under-15 rugby team, Hatch Warren Phoenix FC, Shin Gi Tai Arts squad, Winklebury Junior School Year 5/6 tag rugby.
