TEENAGE eventer Coco Vulliamy Taylor from Farleigh Wallop has been shortlisted for the Great Britain under-16 eventing team for the European Pony Championships in Malmo, Sweden, to be held in August.

Coco is one of 10 riders who have been invited to a training camp later this year, from which the final six will be selected for Malmo.

The 15-year-old attends St Swithun’s School, Winchester, and booked her place in the final 10 at the second British qualifier in Shropshire last October.

This followed a dramatic moment at the first qualifier in May, when Coco was on course for a top-10 place at the British Pony Championships.

However, two fences from home her reins broke, leaving her unable to complete what would have been a qualifying round.

As well as being a top young eventer, the teenager has also excelled on the ski slopes, winning the under-14 individual gold medal at the British Schoolgirls’ Ski Championships in 2012 and 2013.

She is also an excellent lacrosse player, having played for St Swithun’s and the Hampshire and Oxfordshire team that won the county under-15 title.

However, she has given up skiing and lacrosse to focus solely on her riding ambitions.
