LODDON Vale’s young star Nicole Rogers will be in action this weekend at the English Indoor Bowling Association under-25s ladies finals at White Oak Indoor Bowling Club at Swanley, Kent.

Rogers’ first round game is against Joanna Watt from the Egerton Park club in Sussex and starts at 12:30pm.

The ladies suffered a bad loss at Palmerston in the Riversmeet League last weekend.

However, the men beat Carterton by 86-56 in the Wessex League last Sunday, and, more importantly, took 14 points from the game.

This leaves Loddon on 67 points from six games. Carterton have 70 from seven starts and leaders West Berks have 90 from six matches.

In the friendly match at Dolphin, Poole, the Vale came away with a 121-75 win, a result that is fairly unusual away at Poole.

The winning rinks were skipped by Karen Winter (30-7), Steve Foyle (29-10) and Paul Knowles (22-10). Losing rinks were Mick Jones (17-16), Fred Goddard (16-14) and Ian Evans (15-10).

This weekend, the club host friendly matches against Desborough on Saturday and Gloucester Vice Presidents on Sunday.
