BASINGSTOKE’S teenage table tennis ace Amy Blagbrough competed against the best young players in England at the Junior Masters tournament.
The 14-year-old was up against 11 other top-ranked English girls, with competitors meeting each other once in a round-robin format.
The Aldworth School pupil was the 10th seed, but punched above her weight to finish in eighth place.
She won three matches in total, including upsetting fifth seed Olivia Churchill 3-2.
The event was won by national junior champion Maria Tsaptsinos, who won all 11 matches without dropping a set.
After the event, Blagbrough said: “It’s been all right, there’s been some good stuff and some not so good stuff to take away. It’s good to play against the top girls to see what you need to improve on.”
It continues a good season for the Kempshott player, who last month finished third in both the singles and doubles at the English National Under-15 Championships at Preston.
