THE annual Basingstoke Ice Skating Club Christmas ice show is taking shape, with the theme this year being Broadway on Ice.
In total, over 180 skaters have been rehearsing at Basingstoke Arena ahead of four shows taking place over the weekend of December 13-14.
The performances will take place at 2pm and 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
This year’s show starts with the history of Broadway in the 1920s, with stars on the red carpet.
It then travels through the decades with all the glitz and glam and scenes from Oliver!, Grease and Singin’ in the Rain, to name a few.
The skaters involved in the show have age ranges from six to over 70 years and some have regularly competed in the British Champ-ionships, like Oliver Parrington-Tyler, Talulla Corbett and Maria Holdcroft, and competitions in Europe.
For the second year running Peter Baekgaard, a three-time Danish champion who skated with Holiday on Ice for eight years, has put together the show alongside a large group of Basingstoke coaches.
