ADVENTURE AS went to Frobury Farm on Sunday last, where Mark Blackmon took the honours with 52lb 8oz of carp on pole and pellet.

Jake Gallagher put punched bread and pole to good use, netting an even 45lb of carp. Graham Spiller used pole and punch for his 43lb 8oz of carp, while Dave Butler put 38lb 12oz in the sack on pole and pellet to round the placings off.

Sixteen fished and caught.

Kennet Ospreys’ match at Willow Park small lake was a grueller for some and a breeze for others.

Draw bag specialist Steve Hunt drew spot on and ran out an easy winner with 59lb 10oz of carp using the straight waggler fished at full depth in conjunction with 8mm pellet on the hook.

The self-appointed second best angler in the world, “Gedge” Cooper, fished the bomb and pellet for his 25lb 8oz of carp. Thomas Wojcik used pole and pellet for his mixed bag of 23lb 2oz that included an 11lb plus carp. Venue regular Martin Marrison made up the frame with seven carp on the feeder, totalling 16lb 4oz.

For most of the field, the best bit was the breakfast, and the juicy burgers delivered to your peg at lunchtime. Just don’t tell ’er indoors.

Twelve fished and all caught, just.

Ospreys are at Greenridge Farm this coming Sunday.

Ian Jones, Steve Shepherd, John Timney and myself are off to fish a silver fish only match at Longbridge Lake, Romsey, this Friday. Win, lose, rain or shine, Jones and Shepherd will be doing what they do best, moaning.

Camrose AC went to Old Barlows Lake last Sunday, where Rob Frost put in a good performance to win with 10lb 9oz of mixed on pole and maggot. Brian Orchard’s 4lb 1oz was one carp and bits on pole and maggot. Match secretary Pip Seeny caught one carp and bits on pole and maggot for 3lb 4oz, while burger-maker extraordinaire Les Partridge caught 2lb.

Exactly nine fished and caught.

Camrose are at New Barlows Lake this coming Sunday.

The River Thames is showing good form at present, with bags of roach and skimmers topping the 20lb mark.

Stretches from Wallingford down to Goring seem to be producing the best bags, while waggler, casters and maggots seem to be doing the damage.

Basingstoke Railway Club start their winter series at Whitehouse Lake, Tadley, this coming Sunday. The draw is at 8am and fishing is from 9am to 2pm.

’Er indoors keeps saying she is going to book a holiday to compensate for the trip we missed due to my illness.

I am saying that the diet she has put me on means I’m too weak to travel.

I wonder how long I will be able to get away with it?
