KINGSCLERE lead the way in the Basingstoke and District Tennis League Men’s Division One after an 8-0 victory over Kintbury, thanks to their team of Daniel Cole/Steve Mills and Chris Pearce/David Giles.

However, they did slip up at Totally Tennis A going down 6-2, while their closest rivals Goodworth Clatford and RSF A, both beat RSF B in their opening matches 7-1.

Preston Candover lead Division Two after beating Waverley A 6-2 as Charlie Carter/Richard Mole chalked up a maximum and then drew with Aldermaston A, as Dave Bull/Pete Hillman were unbeaten for Aldermaston.

In Division Three, Odiham A beat Hampshire Court A 6-2 thanks to a maximum from Thomas Lynch/Philip Askew.

Totally Tennis B have started strongly in Division Four, with two wins – 7-1 over Aldermaston B and 6-2 against Newbury. Stephen Ridsdel/Ben Chadwick won all their sets in the Newbury match.

Hampshire Court B drew their opening matches against Odiham B and Sherborne, while Waverley B won 7-1 at Newbury with John McKay/Jeff Watson winning four sets.

Sherborne drew with Beechdown C thanks to a maximum from Paul Bullivant/Jeremy Thatcher.

Both Goodworth Clatford and Winchester have started with two wins apiece in Ladies’ Division One.

Goodworth beat Aldermaston 5-3 and then won 6-2 at Odiham, as Helen Li/Ros Hursell collected a maximum. Winchester opened with two 5-3 wins against Totally Tennis A and RSF.

Beechdown A enjoyed an 8-0 success against their B team, thanks to Clare Munns/Andrea Butcher and Ali Coughlan/Jane Freer.

Totally Tennis A won 6-2 at Odiham and Lizzie Mottram/Maggie Woolley gave RSF a draw with Aldermaston by winning all their sets.

Another two teams to start with consecutive wins are Hampshire Court B and Mortimer A in Division Two. Hampshire Court won 8-0 twice, against their A team and Oakley, with Tina Wood/Emma Giddings being untroubled in both matches.

Mortimer won both their matches 5-3 against their B team and at Andover. Jo Jones/Helen Townsend were unbeaten against their B team.

Lizzy Austin/Jane Laborda and Amy McDonald/Georgia Moon gave Andover an 8-0 win against Totally Tennis B, and Preston Candover beat Hampshire Court A 6-2.

Beechdown A head the Mixed Division One after a win and a draw. They drew at RSF A and beat Goodworth Clatford 8-0, with Chris Harrold/Andrea Butcher and Hossam Ashraf/Clare Munns making up their team.

Division Two is led by Hook, after they beat Preston Candover 5-3, thanks to a maximum from Andy Small/Ailsa Fraser, and then drew with Mortimer A.

Odiham A won 5-3 at Overton B and Preston Candover drew with Aldermaston A.

Phil Banfield/Ali Coughlan and Nick Goodall/Jane Freer gave Beechdown B an 8-0 win over their C team in Division Three.

Linda O’Leary and Alan Curtis won all their sets for Kingsclere, in their 7-1 win over Beechdown C.

In Division Four, Old Basing B have started with two 8-0 wins against their C team and Hampshire Court.

Simon and Tina Wood and Darren and Emma Giddings made up their winning team against Hampshire Court. Sherborne lost 5-3 to Hampshire Court, before beating Mortimer B 6-2.
