LODDON Vale Indoor Bowling Club’s dismal friendly form continued last weekend as the club lost 20-110 to Hampshire Patrons.

There were just two winning Loddon rinks, skipped by Brian Ambler (25-17) and John Holmes (25-14), although Terry Jones forced a 20-20 draw. Mick Jones lost 25-14, Jock McCreadie lost 18-13 and Jim Rainbow lost 26-13.

On Sunday, the Whitchurch League beat Vale 118-98. Vale’s three winning rinks were skipped by Pauline Oxlade (18-13), Judy Foyle (18-13) and Mark Raynor (17-12). Graham Bennett lost 23-11, Brian Roberts lost 18-8, Ray Ogg went down 22-15 and Steve Foyle lost 17-11.

On the same day, Vale went down 82-59 against West Berks in the Wessex League, gaining just two points and dropping to third place in the table as a result.

On Monday, the club hosted a match against the touring Coventry Sphinx club, emerging with a 206-98 win.

Holmes won 35-9, John Hilton won 31-11, Derek Waller won 28-19, Jim Rainbow won 29-7, Graham Jordan won 21-17 and Ian Laming won 45-12. There was just won losing rink, skipped by Terry Jones, who went down 23-17.

Loddon Vale ladies have had a good start to the season, beating Riverside 85-63. Vale’s winning rinks were skipped by Sheila Stone (31-8) and Kay Kerley (24-11). Tina Rogers lost 20-15 and Karen Winter lost 24-15.

In the Mason Trophy, which sees one rink played at home and one away, Kerley’s rink won by 18-13 at home, with Five Rivers conceding after 18 ends as Stone’s away rink won 21-6.
