BASINGSTOKE Gymnastic Club were very honoured to have Vadim Skakoun, from Stavropol, in Russia, head up a summer camp for the tumblers.

Tumblers came from Wales and all over England to experience Skakoun’s coaching skills.

He was the national coach of Great Britain for seven years up until 2005 and helped GB become world champions.

In total, 25 tumblers from Basingstoke took part. The accommodation for visiting tumblers was supplied by Sherfield School, who ran a mini bus service for training and leisure activities.

Tumblers Yasmin Hamilton-Giles and Megan Kealy represented Great Britain at an international in Portugal. There was stiff opposition from other countries but Hamilton-Giles managed to win a silver medal.
