TIME is running out for nominations for the annual Basingstoke and Deane Sports Awards, which will be held at the Apollo Hotel on February 27, 2015.

This is a chance to make sure the unsung heroes of sport, as well as the top sportsmen and women in the borough, do not miss out and are rewarded for their dedication to their sports.

The closing date for nominations is Saturday, December 6.

There are a whole host of categories for people to enter, including Club of the Year, Professional and Voluntary Coach of the Year, Junior and Secondary School of the Year, Service to Sport, Senior and Junior Volunteer, Sports Official, Senior and Junior Team plus Junior and Senior Sportsman or Woman.

Sportsmen and women aged between 11 and 25 can also apply for cash backing through the Sports Grant Aid scheme.

The scheme is funded by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and the money can be used to help with a range of things, including travelling and coaching expenses, competition entry fees, equipment and clothing requirements.

Those people applying for grant aid should be of at least county standard.

Grant aid applicants may also be considered for scholarships and support from local facilities, including the sports centre, Aquadrome and Tadley Pool.

All applications for grant aid go forward to the sports awards in the junior and senior sportsman and women categories.
