LODDON Vale’s indoor friendly matches kicked off last Saturday with a visit from the touring Somerset County Patrons.
However, it was not a good day for Vale as they lost 180-146. There were just three winning rinks, skipped by Sheila Girle (25-10), Ian Laming (29-16) and Brian Ambler (37-12).
The losing rinks were skipped by Paul Knowles (25-12), Ray Harris (21-16), Don Lee (21-12), Frank Fuller (30-8) and Ernie Sparrowhawk (39-7).
Defending regional champions Loddon Vale began their 2014/15 Wessex League programme with a 96-60 win over Oxford City and County, a result that earned them 14 points.
The club also played a friendly against Wey Valley, losing 125-97. The winning rinks were skipped by Judy Foyle (18-17) and Pauline Oxlade (20-17), while Alan Smith lost 22-20, June Harvie lost 24-12, Steve Foyle lost 19-15 and Alan Tait went down 26-12.
