BOUNTY squash first team, looking to go one better than their second spot in last season’s Berkshire League Premier Division, opened their campaign with a 5-0 win at Hart.

First string Anthony Brindle opened his account with a routine 11-7, 11-5, 11-4 win over Chris Locks.

Former club champion Mike Elford returned at number two after over a year out with a serious knee injury.

He made a winning comeback, using his superior racket skills to beat Gareth Sutton 11-9, 11-7, 11-2.

Ben Thornton and team captain, Stuart Summers encountered more resistance at third and fourth strings, as both conceded games before beating Paul Barker and Elliott Stanton respectively.

Teenager Cameron Ward is using Bounty team matches to tune up his match play as he looks to improve his England under-17 ranking. He had a good win, beating Rob Barker 11-2, 11-2, 11-9.

Bounty II made a great start in Division 2A with a 4-1 away win at a strong Windsor II.

Mike Hallett, Rashid Hashmi, Mark Palser and Will Vaughan all won well, with the only loss suffered by second string Adam Doran.

Newly promoted Bounty III won their Division 2B local derby against Beechdown 3-2.

First and second strings James Gibbs and Toby Craven had tough openers against the Beechdown pairing of Tim Kirk and Mark Woodward, but John Fowler, Andrew Darley and Neil Wright turned the tie back in the home team's favour.

The re-formed Bounty 4 were well beaten 4-1 by a heavily loaded Datchet II side, but they expect to be very competitive in Division 4B.
