BASINGSTOKE Hockey Club’s ladies started their quest for promotion with an 8-0 hammering of visiting Fareham.

The home side never looked back after Fi Parker scored twice, in only her second game for the first team.

Annalise Whitehead made it 3-0 at half-time, rounding the Fareham goalkeeper to complete an excellent passing move.

After the break, Roxy O’Dea smashed home a straight strike from a slick short-corner routine.

Lisa Scarborough and Jay White were like gladiators in the middle, fighting for possession and it was from their hard work that Parker completed her hat-trick.

The home team were then awarded a penalty flick after a Fareham defender stopped the ball on the line with her foot.

Catriona Bausor calmly fired high above the goalkeeper’s right hand.

The scoring was completed by Kirsty Kent and Parker, with her fourth of the game.

The ladies’ second team also enjoyed a convincing 5-0 win over visiting Aldershot and Farnham.

Sarah Mainprise’s pinpoint accurate strike from the top of the D gave Basingstoke the lead.

From a penalty-corner, Chris Waller fired a short pass to Jane Askey, who sent a low bullet into the net.

The ladies’ third goal came from brilliant link-up play between new partnership Bev Mackay and Askey, as Mackay’s cracking cross saw Askey finish in style.

Mainprise showed her skills with a perfectly executed lob and Tara Stone added the fifth goal just before the final whistle.

The ladies’ third team completed a hat-trick of wins for the club with a 1-0 victory at Aldershot and Farnham, as Catherine Wood scored the winner.

The men’s first team beat Romsey, Aldershot and Farnham and Haslemere to secure a place in the Hampshire Cup quarter-finals.

In the first match against Romsey, Basingstoke won 2-1 thanks to Clinton Douglass and Ben Jubin.

This was followed by a 3-0 success over Aldershot & Farnham, as Mark Smith, Danny Bowden and Dean Record all scored.

They booked their place in the final eight with a 2-1 victory against Haslemere, as they came from behind. Mark Smith levelled and then Douglass deflected Jed Mills’ ball past the Haslemere goalkeeper for the winning goal.
