KENNET Ospreys’ match at Bowsaw Lake saw Terry Bowles win with 125lb of carp on pole and meat close in, where else?

Darren Dodge, not to be confused with “Dodgy Darren”, took second spot with 107lb of carp on pole and pellet. John Brownlee used the method for his 98lb 8oz, while “Born Again” Simon Couling put 91lb 12oz on the scales.

Twenty-two fished and caught.

Adventure AS were at Billhook on Sunday last, and Gary Herman did the business on pole and meat, netting 84lb 6oz of carp. Mick Fordham used pole and corn for his 76lb 4oz. Brian Swindle employed the same tactics for his 75lb 4oz, while Dave Sexton weighed in 68lb 12oz on pole and meat.

Twenty-one fished and caught.

Camrose AC had their latest match at Cove Pit, where Ralph Sneddon put pole and paste to good use and won with 150lb of carp. Brian Orchard’s 129lb 15oz was a pole and pellet affair, Paul Hunt’s 115lb 7oz fell to pole and paste, with the human balloon Colin Arris catching 68lb 15oz on meat and sultanas, would you believe?

Staceys Match Group went to South Hill Park, Bracknell, last Sunday, and Steve Davies won it with 55lb, including 18lb of roach. Paul Follington’s 49lb 4oz was a carp and maggot affair. Kevin Smith stopped looking at the lady cyclists long enough to weigh 37lb 8oz, while Dan Butler caught 31lb 8oz on pole and paste.

Eleven fished an interesting venue.

Adventure AS went to Dandy’s Ford last week and Mick Fordham did the business with 164lb of carp on pole corn and meat. Mick Sargent used pole and meat for his 114lb. Trevor Thornton caught 113lb of carp on pole and prawns (yes prawns), while Dave Butler’s 99lb 8oz of carp was a pole and paste jobby.

Kennet Ospreys’ match with Camrose, at Marsh Farm Lakes, saw Mick Howells top out on an even 14lb of tench, roach and skimmers on pole chopped worm and casters. John Jackson used the same approach for his 13lb 13oz. John Timney caught mainly tench for his 13lb 2oz, while Paul Hunt put pellet to good use for his 12lb 8oz, the same weight, incidentally, as Mick Shepherd.

Twenty-nine fished and caught.

The Tony Skeats Memorial Match was fished at New Barlow’s Lake last Saturday.

Staceys supremo Keith Brown took the honours with 16lb 12oz of mixed. Mo Parsons was second on 15lb 8oz, just beating his son Mark on 15lb. Bartosz Recki came fourth with 14lb.

After the match, Keith Brown and his dad Mick laid on a barbecue for the anglers, friends and relatives of top man Tony. Joyce Skeats presented the trophy and all of the prize-winners donated their winnings to a leukaemia charity. A sum of £195 was raised.

’Er indoors went and was seen to smile on several occasions.
