TWO members of the Overton Black Arrows Archery Club, Genni Elliot and Ian Boreham, helped the Hampshire County Archer Association beat Sussex in a target match.

Both were shooting in the longbow class. Elliot was the highest-placed Hampshire lady, while Boreham was the second highest scoring Hampshire archer in his class.

Three Overton archers, Debbie Lodge, Boreham and Elliot, competed in the Southern Counties Archery Society Longbow Championships.

Lodge was awarded a third-place medal, and Elliot was presented with the Rhodes Plaque.

Boreham finished 10th in the gentlemen’s class, competing against some of the best longbow archers in the country.

Richard Tungate-Thorn, shooting the recurve bow freestyle, has represented the club at a number of field archery events with world and national status and enjoyed some success.

Bill Jones won the Hampshire Field Championships for shot bare bow. This is a bow without sights.

Richard Buckner has represented the club at a number of target competitions over the past few months, gaining places in a number of them.

His next competitions will complete a series of events required for national rankings.

David Backers has been presented with The Grey Edwards Trophy for services to Hampshire Archery, a prestigious award that can only be received once.

Backers was unable to attend the Hampshire Annual General Meeting to collect the award, so it was collected on his behalf by club president, Peter Turner.
