BASINGSTOKE’S Roller Derby team, the Bullets, are out to avenge last season’s defeat this weekend, when they face Wiltshire Roller Derby at the Winchester River Park Leisure Centre in the latest round of the Heartland Tournament.

Last September, these sides clashed and Bullets started strongly and at half-time led 87-62.

However, helped by several power jams (a roller derby powerplay) Wiltshire fought back to run out 227-162 winners.

Sunday’s game is a home fixture for north Hampshire’s only roller derby team, who train at Testbourne School in Whitchurch.

They are involved in the second game in a double header of action and they are due to start at 5pm.

The game before them, which starts at 2.30pm, involves Plymouth City Roller Girls as they face Surrey Girls.

Both games are an hour long, split into two 30-minutes halves.

The Bullets are also using the game to continue to raise money for the Sebastian’s Action Trust as they are holding a raffle.

So far this year, the Bullets have already raised a staggering £4,126, after climbing Snowdon in April followed by May’s skating marathon.

The year before, the team raised nearly £600 by skating 583 miles around the Goodwood Motor Circuit as part of the South Coast Roll.

Tickets for the game at Winchester are available on the door or from uk.brownpapertickets.
