WINKLEBURY potting machine Mickey Joyce has renewed his sponsorship deal with Surrey-based Falcon Pools, who have splashed out another three-figure sum on the young wizard of the green baize.

The 10-year-old, pictured, will use the money to cover a second year’s coaching at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club with World Snooker coach Tim Dunkley.

The Winklebury Junior School pupil practises at The Academy near his Basingstoke home and is currently second in the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Silver Tour rankings, after five of the eight legs. Joyce won last season’s Bronze Tour championship play-off and his highest competitive break is 54. He is also in the last 16 of the English Under-14 Championship and will compete in the finals next month in Leeds.

His coach, Dunkley, said: “I’ve worked with Mickey for a year now. Some of the things he does on the snooker table are phenomenal.

“He is fearless, which makes him a dangerous opponent, but he has the knowledge and the talent to back that up. He added: “I can’t wait to see how he performs when he has a consistent and repeatable technique.”

Falcon Pools Surrey’s leading swimming pool designers and installers director Terry Woodhams said: “We are sponsoring Mickey to help give him the help, support and the opportunity to realise his dream of becoming a professional snooker player.

“In my opinion, any kind of sport is an essential part of a young lad’s education and we are very pleased to help this young lad who is showing dedication, enthusiasm and a talent in his chosen sport.

“His father is also an important part of our team and we recognise that, for any youngsters to stand a chance of realising their dream, it also takes dedication and sacrifices from their parents.”
