BRETT Denham scored four times as Tadley Calleva hit a magnificent seven against visiting Pewsey Vale in the Wessex League Division One.

The home side took just four minutes to take the lead, as Basingstoke Town Youth player George Jones on his debut crossed for Denham to score.

The striker went onto complete a straight hat-trick and then turned provider for Connor Thorne to make it 4-0 at the break.

Denham with his fourth opening the second-half scoring and then Andrew Charsley scored from the penalty spot, after Thorne was fouled just inside the box.

Charsley with a lovely top corner strike completed the 7-0 victory.

Tadley finished the game with a team full of youngsters including four Hungerford Academy players.

Defenders Chad Abrams and Kallum Thomas played the full 90 minutes and strikers Conor Lynch and Levi Heholt the final 30. Young Tadley reserve player Adam Bartlett also finished the game coming in the last 25 minutes.

Tadley manager Danny Dolan said: “It was a great win and nice to be able to give so many players some time. We have some very promising youngsters at the team.”

The Pewsey victory moved Tadley up to fifth in the table and they have two tough league games coming up with a trip to leaders Hamble Club on Saturday and then they entertain sixth placed AFC Stoneham on Tuesday night.

It is hoped another Hungerford Academy player Harry Monger will make his debut at the weekend at Hamble.

Looking ahead to both games Dolan said: “We have now gone six games unbeaten and we know Hamble is not going to be easy, but it would be nice to get something out of the game. AFC Stoneham will be another stiff test on Tuesday night.”
