WHITCHURCH United’s poor run of form continued as they lost 4-3 away at local rivals Andover Town in the Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday.

Two early goals from Michael Dixon had Andover in charge and while Mitch Fear pulled one goal back from a corner, Dixon completed a first-half hat-trick to make it 3-1 at the break.

The Jam Boys hit back in the second half. Andre Manders reduced the deficit to a single goal and Josh Green equalised from the penalty spot after Tom Lockyer was brought down.

It looked like they would claim a point, but there was late drama, Andover substitute Cameron Hough scoring with virtually his first touch to win the game.

To add insult to injury, Whitchurch lost Ryan Lambert to a second yellow card in the closing stages.

The result saw Whitchurch slip to fourth in the table. They host struggling Bournemouth Poppies on Saturday.

Tadley Calleva saw their trip to Andover New Street postponed at the weekend. They have been knocked off the top of Wessex League Division One table and sit second ahead of a home game against fifth-placed Cowes Sports on Saturday.
