CAPTAIN Sam Argent led by example with a superb hat-trick as Hartley Wintney beat visiting Lymington 4-0.

The home side took control of the Hampshire Senior Cup tie against their Wessex League Premier opponents from the start and Steven Duff gave them the lead.

It was then left to Argent to hit a straight hat-trick to make sure his side book a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

It also sure the side bounce back to winning ways after a rare defeat in the league on Saturday.

This week the Combined Counties League Premier Division leaders are at home to eighth placed Epsom and Ewell.

Talking after Tuesday night's game joint manager Danny Brownlie said: "It was a great result with some good individual performances. We started the game really well and took advantage by capitalising in our periods of pressure. We created some really good goals.

"They improved second half and we perhaps took our foot off the pedal a little, but we went on to score a fourth. All in all though, a good nights work.

He added: "We're looking forward to the game against Epsom on Saturday. They're a strong physical side so we'll expect a battle, it's always a good competitive game against the sides."
