HARTLEY Wintney extended their lead at the top of the Combined Counties League Premier Division to six points with a 2-0 win at Windsor.

The first half was a tight affair and produced very few chances. Jake Maddock in the Hartley goal looked assured with his handling of cross balls. On 18 minutes, the Row took the lead courtesy of a complete gift from the hosts.

Sweeper Komal Llewellyn- Reid under no pressure in the left back position decided to pass the ball across the front of the Windsor goal.

Sam Argent was waiting completely unmarked and the Hartley striker said ‘thank you very much !’ controlled the ball and smashed past the bewildered home keeper Hugo Sobte from just inside the area.

Shane Hollomby had a chance to extend the lead on 25 minutes, following a long throw from Adam Everiss but shot over.

The second half saw play open up and it was Hartley who had the first chance on 46 minutes.

Hollomby created space on the right and crossed for Argent whose shot was pushed around the post by Hugo Sobte.

Windsor had an effort from Denzel Bonillo-Hurtado on 53 minutes. The wingers full blooded shot was blocked by the Hartley defence.

The visitors then took the initiative and could have extended the lead on 64 minutes. Good link up play between Hollomby and Everiss saw the latter’s shot well saved by Sobte.

After a short period of Windsor pressure, The Row extended the lead on 67 minutes.

Good pressure from Steve Noakes on chasing a long ball down the wing saw Harley get possession.

Everiss and Stow combined to set up Hollomby who turned the last defender and comfortably scored past the out rushing Hugo Sobte.

Shortly afterwards Steven Duff had the ball in the net again for Hartley after link up play with Everiss, but it was ruled offside.

With Hartley well on top Argent broke through for a one-on-one with the Windsor goalkeeper, who won the dual. Shortly afterwards Duff hit the crossbar from a corner and in another minute, Sobte did well to save from Everiss after a pass from Stow.

Windsor applied some late pressure and following a high ball into the Hartley area; Barry Dunbar saw his strong drive blocked by Noakes.

Last Wednesday, Hartley cruised into the second round of the Aldershot Senior Cup after they won at Cove 5-0 thanks to a brace from Argent along with singles from Duff, Steve Laidler and Liam Eagle.

Joint manager Daniel Brownlie said: "We have had good moments and spells in both games but we've been far from our best when you compare and contrast previous games.

"Having said that, to not to be at our best, score seven goals and keep two clean sheets."

He added: "We just need to ensure that going into Tuesday night's home game against Bedfont, who will be better opposition; that we improve all round. We'll certainly find out who the characters are on Tuesday evening, we'll all need to be up for it."
