HARTLEY Wintney took another step towards the Combined Counties Premier League title with a comfortable 3-0 win at mid table Windsor.

The hosts started brightly and after two minutes Henry Montague had a chance but shot well wide from the edge of the box.

Hartley’s first chance came on the eight minute mark, when Windsor goalie Carl Dennison punched clear on the edge of the penalty box when challenged by Shane Hollomby. The ball fell to Joe Paris whose lob from 30 yards out went just over.

Two minutes later, Steven Duff had a shot well saved following good link up play between Sam Argent and Shane Hollomby.

Adam Everiss then outpaced the home defence, but saw his shot saved, but he gathered the rebound and his second full blooded shot saw a remarkable save from Dennison.

Windsor had a good chance soon after, but Barry Dunbar fired over.

After 18 minutes, Everiss brought a good save out of Dennison with a shot from the edge of the box, following a corner.

Windsor had a good spell of pressure from a number of set pieces.

However Hartley coped well and Jake Maddock on his debut in goal was untroubled.

The visitors then took the lead after 33 minutes as a long free-kick found Argent who managed to get round the back of the Windsor defence. His cut back saw Shane Hollomby rifle into the net from 12 yards.

Hartley started the second half strongly and on 51 minutes they doubled their lead.

Everiss made ground down the left wing and his accurate cross found Hollomby. The striker took a touch before firing home Just after the hour, Argent beat the Windsor offside trap and was denied one-on-one by the home goalkeeper.

On 73 minutes 16-year-old - Maddock in the Hartley goal, who was steady throughout, had his first shot to stop being well positioned to take Henry Montague’s effort.

With 10 minutes left, Dennison pulled off a good save from Argent and five minutes later did even better to prevent a good effort from Hollomby.

Hartley added their third goal two minutes from time as substitute Zac Horkan found space on the left and his low shot beat Dennison but struck the far post and Liam Eagle followed up to score from close range.

Joint manager Daniel Brownlie said: "It was a poor first half by our own standards, we were fortunate not to be two down in the opening 10 minutes.

"Shane Hollamby, who is now four goals in four games, scored a well constructed goal and eased the pressure. "That goal changed the course of the game as Windsor had to commit further bodies forward.

He added: "The second half was a lot better, we controlled the midfield and our defence were rarely tested. We must also mention our 16-year-old goalkeeper, Jake Maddock for his terrific performance."

Hartley are now 12 points clear at the top of the table and entertain Horley next on Saturday.
