HARTLEY Wintney went six points clear at the top of the Combined Counties League Premier Division after they won 1-0 at title rivals Epsom and Ewell.

The winning goal came from Adam Everiss, as he put away an excellent cross from Steven Duff.

Craig Atkinson made three excellent saves to make sure Hartley secured another three points in their push for the title.

Hartley's joint manager Daniel Brownlie said: "Every game has an importance at this stage in the season, especially because of the situation we have put ourselves in.

"This game had with it an added spice due to us coming up against a team that are also challenging for the title, so we are very pleased to have come away with all three points."

"It was far from pretty and it could have been a different outcome had Craig Atkinson not been in such fine form with three terrific saves. "We were relentless and defended incredibly well to earn our third clean sheet in a row."

He added: "There is no time for complacency, we want to build on what we have already produced and continue to improve. We go into Saturday's game away at Farnham with equal determination to take all three points again."
