HARTLEY Wintney maintained their four point lead at the top of the Combined Counties League Premier Division, thanks to a 2-0 win over visiting Hanworth Villa.

The home side had their first chance in the eighth minute as Adam Everiss brought a good save from the visiting goalkeeper.

Captain Sam Argent was then unlucky on 34 minutes when his volley from an Everiss cross went just over.

Three minutes before half time Liam Eagle headed just over the bar from Ian Jones' corner, as it remained 0-0 at half-time After the interval, Hartley piled on the pressure and Everiss had another shot saved and then just after the hour Jack Coventry and Jones both saw efforts go just wide of the post.

The home side finally took a well deserved lead as Hanworth were unable to clear a corner and Shane Hollomby scored with a spectacular overhead kick.

Villa almost equalised soon after and then eight minutes from time Everiss was unlucky to see his shot cleared off the line after being played in by Argent.

In the final two minutes, Everiss made good progress down the left wing and his cross found substitute Aaron Parfitt. Parfitt.

His first shot was blocked by the the goalkeeper, but he made no mistake from the rebound to complete the 2-0 win.

Joint manager Daniel Brownlie said after the game: "This was possibly my favourite win of the year, as we dominated throughout."

The leaders are next in action on Monday morning (11.30am) when they travel to fourth placed Camberley.
