HARTLEY Wintney booked their place in the third round of the FA Vase after an excellent 3-1 victory over visiting Windsor.

A big crowd saw the home side start strongly and they took the lead after three minutes, as a set piece was partly cleared.

Toby Jannaway sent in a cross from the right wing and Calum Eagle rose highest to loop a header over the Windsor goalkeeper.

Hartley were well on top as Adam Everiss managed to get free behind the Windsor defence but shot wide and then Sam Argent fired over.

On 28 minutes after continuous pressure, Argent headed narrowly wide from an accurate cross from Aaron Parfitt.

Three minutes later, Eagle saw his header hit the crossbar and as half time approached home goalie Craig Atkinson brought off a smart save.

Just after the hour mark, Atkinson was called into action again to make a good save, before the home side scored twice in the space of three minutes to make the tie safe.

On 72 minutes the best move of the match saw accurate passing from Hartley players. This culminated in Argent releasing Everiss into the penalty box and the winger fired an unstoppable shot high into net. The home side were then awarded a free-kick 25 yards out after Jannaway was fouled and Aaron Parfitt sent an unstoppable shot to make it 3-0.

In the final 10 minutes Jannaway's fierce shot blocked and tempers boiled over after he went for the rebound which saw Jannaway and Windsor's Charlie Samuel dismissed.

During the considerable amount of injury time Steven Duff was unlucky when he dribbled through the Windsor defence, only to see his shot hit the post.

With time running out, a corner on the right saw a scramble in the Hartley box and Windsor's Barry Dunbar poked home from close range.

There was still time for the Windsor goalkeeper to pull off a good save from Everiss, as the village side nearly scored a fourth.

After the game manager Daniel Brownlie said: "It was a superb win. We dominated the game right from the first whistle and it became a great all round team performance.

"We were relentless for the first 45 but should have been more clinical, we made up for it in the second half with two fantastic goals. We can now look forward to see who we have in the next round.

Hartley return to league action tomorrow night when they entertain Badshot Lea. a side they beat 7-4 early in the season.
