HARTLEY Wintney manager Ben Dillon apologised to fans of the club after his team were humbled 5-0 at home by bottom side Guildford City last night.

Anthony Baker hit a first-half hat-trick as the Combined Counties Premier League strugglers led by four goals at the break, going on to add a fifth in the second half.

The result leaves Hartley eighth in the table and Dillon took to the club’s forum to apologise for the display.

“There isn't a lot I need to say apart from a huge apology to all supporters of Hartley Wintney FC for my team’s performance,” he wrote.

“I back my team all the way and we all know we are a great side. Our league position shows this. However, that doesn’t excuse tonight’s performance.”

Dillon will be looking for a response from his team on Saturday, when they make the short trip to Farnham Town, who sit just below them in the table.
