HARTLEY Wintney welcomed back star striker Sam Argent, but he could not prevent them losing 3-2 at home to mid-table Bedfont Sports on Saturday.

Argent has rejoined Hartley on duel registration, having left for Basingstoke Town in the summer, and he was involved in the build-up to the opening goal, which was scored by Lukas Burt.

Burt and Argent both went close before Ross Cook doubled the lead, but Hartley conceded twice before the break to go into half-time level at 2-2.

The game looked set to end in a draw, especially when Hartley goalkeeper Craig Atkinson pulled off an excellent save, but the visitors claimed an injury-time winner from a set piece.

Hartley remain seventh in the Combined Counties League Premier Division ahead of a trip to mid-table Epsom and Ewell on Saturday.
