DESPITE missing several key players, Hartley Wintney managed to come from behind to claim a 2-1 victory away at Frimley Green on Saturday.

The visitors were without a total of five first-team regulars, including captain Steve Noakes and key player Shane Hollamby, and they did not get off to a good start on a difficult pitch.

Frimley Green took the lead early on, former Hartley striker Ryan Stephens setting it up with a header across goal, and the visitors were unable to respond before the interval.

Half-time substitute Ross Cook made an almost immediate impact after the break, beating several defenders before firing home an angled shot to level the game.

Hartley took control of the game, creating several chances before taking the lead as Lukas Burt, another substitute, found the bottom corner with a fine volley from Josh Drew’s centre.

Hartley have now won three games in a row, a run that has seen them move up to seventh in the Combined Counties League Premier Division table. They are in action again tomorrow night, making the short trip to take on struggling Badshot Lea.
