HARTLEY Wintney put in a good performance but were unable to spring a Hampshire Senior Cup surprise away at Gosport Borough last night.
Hartley play their league football three steps below Conference South outfit Gosport but it was the village side who took the lead after 12 minutes of last night’s game on the south coast. Tom Walsh’s shot was parried, giving Lukas Burt the chance to fire Hartley in front.
The lead only lasted seven minutes, Dan Woodward levelling for Gosport, but the game remained level at half-time. Gosport went ahead just before the hour through Matt Paterson, but Hartley remained in the game until 10 minutes from time, when Steve Ramsey fired in a third.
Ben Dillon’s side return to Combined Counties League Premier Division action on Saturday, when they host local rivals Camberley Town.
